I don't know about that. I've been living in Hawaii for slightly over two months now, and I kind of miss the seasons, the leaves falling off the trees, it getting cooler. Then the first REAL cold nights, the eight hours of sunlight, (when it's not over cast and grey), and the first frost, followed by some snow, and everything REALLY dying off. Having to spend a good deal of time to get dressed, just to bear the temps outside, then the reverse process when finally indoors. Having to start the car, wait about ten minutes for it to warm up, so your okole doesn't freeze off. Praying for the first day of spring, and it's not even the end of January yet. Collecting the lint from your navel, and making Christmas gifts out of it, you know, little angels and elves..(maybe that was just me) Finally having a more or less decent day out in mid March, when the temp gets up to 50-55, and stays that way for over an hour.... Yep, I really miss it..

or, maybe I'm just full of kukae. After all, I am the guy who goes on and on about cannibals in Hawaii

Stop in at Foodland and ask if you can go sit in the cooler for a while. About the time hypothermia sets in, you will probably forget that you were missing the seasons!

For me, the impending onset of winter was what got me thinking about moving, and realizing that I can move to Hawai'i if I sell most of my junk here first and stay on my budget for a year.

I've learned over the last several years that you don't own stuff, stuff owns YOU, and I can do without most of the stuff I've got. I think I can be happy there if I just have my motorcycle, my computer, my ham radio and a powered parachute. None of those things benefit from cold weather.

I'm a believer in supporting local businesses -- Safeway is an invasive species from California.

I love the new Foodland in Kapolei.

Safeway marks their "soon to expire" goods down 50% so we sometimes get a better deal there.

I don't get to decide anything about groceries, however. I've got a "Food Network junkie/nazi" for a significant other. He tells me where we're shopping.

It's not the FOOD that's "soon to expire," it's the people who EAT the food . . !

Seriously, when I've been to Hawai'i I have always found Foodland / SNS to be the place to buy groceries. They're a local company. I figure that's worth supporting, rather than sending all of the profits to the mainland. When I'm in the islands, I want the money I bring to benefit THE ISLANDS, not some guy in San Francisco. I figure that even Donki is more worthy of my business.

Lol you all are crazy!

I can do without the seasons changing for a while. I really despise it. I woke up this morning with a sore throat, baby is sick, big kids are getting sick, ugh... I hate cold fronts.

UPDATE...
So I got the house boxed up and put it on craigslist. Lots of people interested, showed it a few times. Still lots are interested...
THEN...
Hubby got a job call making $10 more dollars per hour than what he usually makes. Our insurance was weeks away from expiring, savings gone, Christmas around the corner. Needless to say he took the job.

Now we are all boxed up and no place to go.
Of course this is a union call, we don't really know how long it will last and then he'll be laid off again. Our plan is to get thru Christmas here and ride the employment train until it drops us off at the unemployment station and hopefully we will have enough saved up so we can all come to Hawaii together

Meanwhile, there is still people interested in the house lol. One family is wanting updates on the move and would still like to rent it once it becomes available.

Looks like I need to break out the heavy coats and winter wear boxes... ((sigh))

On the plus side I had a lovely dream that we moved there and loved it. Fingers crossed we do!
