NE Ohio - Cleveland Heights.

2) Why do you want to leave or have left?:
Leaving in two weeks. Accepted a position in Northern New Jersey within my company that pays more, provides more opportunity for advancement, and I'll have NYC at my fingertips. I'll be living in the Hamilton Park neighborhood of Jersey City.

4) 2nd and 3rd Place Choices: Philadelphia and Chicago

5) What’s currently holding you back from moving if you haven't already left?:
Up until I accepted the position I'll be taking on, my immediate family lives in Cleveland and the the rents are amazingly low.

6) Anything else you want to say?
Cleveland is the city of lost opportunity. As a lifelong resident of this city, I can say with great conviction that most of the residents are perfectly content being mediocre. From the sports teams to the lack of urgency of Cleveland's leadership to the antiquated and recycled ideas that will supposedly "revive Cleveland," we fall way behind the curve as cities like Pittsburgh and Columbus, and to a lesser extent Buffalo (which truly is making a comeback), grab our lost opportunities. Cleveland's greatest attribute - being halfway between Chicago and NYC, being a stone's throw from Toronto, and having unrestricted access to the Lake Erie - should alone be enough to make Cleveland more alluring than it is. Add to the mix that we have dirt cheap real estate, tonnes of dead space just itching for development, top-notch health care, and a world-class international airport and it becomes apparent just how lousy of a job the powers that be in Cleveland have done in attracting business to the North Coast. We'll happily vote to give the stadium owners tax abatements and public funding, but god forbid we offer tax incentives to businesses that set up shop in Cleveland and employ our residents. We have Amtrak running right through the heart of the city, but good luck finding the station. 70% of the light rail (Rapid) stops are in the middle of nowhere and highly unsafe. We spent millions on the Euclid Corridor project and yet nobody thought to implement a way to force all riders to pay before entering the bus. And now the Medical Mart - the golden ticket that will ultimately revitalize the downtown - by attracting medical professionals, and only medical professionals, to its hallowed halls. Wake me when this nightmare is over.

In the end, I'll look back upon Cleveland as a place that was good to me and will always be my home. I just wish I could go elsewhere and not have a bitter taste in my mouth as so many cities with so much less to offer than Cleveland find ways to stay relevant and make do while Cleveland continues to crumble.

/end rant
Good luck in New Jersey and NYC. Just so you know, there's a lot more happening in Cleveland over the past year, than just the Med Mart. Cleveland is seeing it's highest $$$ of construction projects since Jacob's Field, Gund Arena, and the RRHOF were built:

^ Is Cleveland evber going to open access to the lake? Seems like this has been discussed for years but never gets off ground or discussed as a 30 yr project. It would really be great if Cleveland could do what Milwaukee and Chicago has done with lake access.

To be honest, I don't know why people constantly rip on our lakefront development. Is it underutilized, certainly. But, it's not like there isn't anything good there (Inner Harbor, RnRHOF, Browns Stadium, Science Center/Imax, many marinas, etc.). Also, there is development planned on Whiskey Island to coincide with the new flats development. The problem around here is that people complain like they want everything done yesterday and then, when it does happen, they fail to support it. In order for any lakefront development to thrive, people must use and support it. In order for that to happen, people need to live downtown. That is happening, but not in the numbers it would take to warrant investing millions into lakefront development. So much else needs to be completed before that is realized.

The only real talk is with the new "Group Plan" with a proposed predestrian bridge coming off the Mall:

No talk for overall development. But the Flats are getting a complete make over currently and for the next 2-4 years...which connects to the lake...about $1 Billion worth.

Yes, I really didn't see how the lakefront development stuck with the thread at hand...

Knowing that I'm sure you can assign an appropriate value to his rantings.
I wonder what does this self-anointed "freest country" on the face of Earth does to its citizens to kills off, eradicate, burn out, extinguish the slightest traces of the critical thinking from the minds of the great many of its residents? No openly totalitarian state could boast such an achievement, no parallels in history that I know about. Seriously how do they do it to you? Is it in water, Coke, Frankenstein Burgers? Significant chuck of population acts just like a pack of Pavlov's dogs having predictable conditioned responses to key label words that High Priests invoke each time to avoid meaningful debates and extract votes for yet another meaningless election. Why do you need a KGB with people like that?

Here is a HINT you will not hear on your favorite talk radio: Thomas Jefferson warned of the consequences of mass wage slavery long before Karl Marx was born.

While a lot has changed since I posted on this forum literally TWO years ago, I still haven't left Ohio. I feel like a salmon in a grizzly's maw.

I also have realized that I love Ohio, but need to grow with something else for awhile. What's holding me back? Namely school loans and actual school. Still, if I could find a job in Ohio, I'd take it. Heck, if I found a job in Timbucktu, I'd probably take it.

Anyone need a good PR person in a one and a half or so years?

Having looked back on it, where would I go now besides where a job is? Probably closer to family in NY's Hudon Valley (doubtful due to jobs), NYC, or back home to DC/NOVA/MD.

I just left my PR position in Dayton if you would like that. Honestly, it's already been filled, sorry.

Well this is certainly a thoughtful and through reply. I like how the poster manages to be both rambling and unintelligible with a topping of froth and vitriol for good measure. well played sir.

So for my appropriate response I would like to say...
As a Self professed communist, has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
