Thanks, everyone! Now I know where to look for chowder!! I completely forgot about the Sea Hag. And I miss Dory Cove. Didn't know anything had replaced it.

Im not sure, all i know is its in Lakeside, which is a few miles north of Coos Bay/North Bend. After reading the article, i did google it, and they have a website....
We're talking about going up there and trying the chowder here soon. We dont typically eat out (much less something like chowder as we prefer homemade! ) but with those reviews, we'd sure like to spluge and give it a try.
lemme know what you think of it if you beat us to it.

We visit relatives every summer on the coast and always enjoy the chowder at the Firehouse Restaurant in Florence.

Have to agree, Mo's is not that good.

2 years ago some friends and I were in Florence for a weekend and they were having a Wine & Seafood festival. There was a chowder contest going on where samples were given out, votes were tallied, and a winner was named. All four of us voted for #5, it was hands down the best chowder...unfortunately, they ran out of samples and left before we could find out where that chowder came from. The only tidbit of information we got was that it was from a restaurant in Newport. Now I'm going to have to check out the Chowder Bowl and Quimby's to try to find that chowder. I agree that Mo's isn't that great. I've had better chowder at Sizzler, Skipper's and a few Casino's in land locked states.

Mo's is HIGHLY overrated. I'd go so far as to say it's not very good. I was a huge fan of Dory Cove in Lincoln City but they burned down.
