I remember in HS having a conversation with a friend. I mentioned, and he agreed that practically every girl we knew named Jennifer was quite attractive.
Is it me or is Jennifer a VERY common name? I've been on dates with about 10 Jennifers...once 3 women I met in a row were called Jennifer.
I'm meeting another Jennifer during the weekend! I'm starting to dislike the name because it's so common...
I think of a nun. It sounds very Catholic and pure.
I know a gal named Bernadette and she goes by Bernie. She's a saucy pinup model with just a bit of an attitude and I absolutely adore her!
That could be why I like the name so much...but I also like women who have mens nicknames. My nickname is a men's name, Bernie for Bernadette, Charlie for Charlotte etc.
I've said this many times to my friends but I once signed up for E-Harmony many moons ago and after filling out that whole app, they only had 2 matches for me in my tri-state area. One was names Julio and the other Howard.
Sorry, could not see myself with a Julio or a Howard so I shut down my profile and never looked back.
Of course there were no pics and no other info on them so based on the names alone, I rolled.
Capeesh? You mean Capisce!-I know lol...I write is as "capeesh" for the slangy sound
I go onto my cousins' FB pages who have 300 or so friends. I spotted a few Giusys. I don't know if it's a derivative, but that's what I see. Mostly teenagers/college-age girls tend to have it. The "y" has been imported. There is no letter "j" and "x" in the alphabet of 21, either, but you will find the names Letojanni and Giardini Naxos on the map of Sicily. Sicily's alphabet is different. The letters X, K and Y are also used in some dialects of Sicilian. So maybe this new Giusy name is a Sicilian thing. I notice when I read posts by my relatives over in Italy, I'm like wth?? They write very differently these days.
So, for the name Giusy, go onto FB, and type in that first name and then type in the Jones and Smith of Italian last names, like Martini or Rossi. If you don't get any hits, keep trying with other last names. They're there.
I can see it now. American guy who took 2 years of college Italian goes over there to score. Q: Come ti chiami? (What's your name?) A: Mi chiamo Giusy. (My name is Giusy.) Q: *American guy is laughing so hard, he spits out his drink.
That is the most bizarre thing I've heard. Now I have to look and see.
if it's something I can't pronounce like "chl'thta'tehczt" then yeah my attraction may be a bit inhibited...
about "bernadette"....sounds a lot like "Bernadotte" the family name of the swedish royal family... I would think bernadette as a last name, not a first name...
Thinking of this though... I have realized that the women I've been with all had first names that started with L, M, and N. My name starts with M. Strange.
there was a really cute girl i had good chemistry with until i found out her name was hoween
