Patio Diet Cola in my mom's refrigerator in 1963-64. The name was changed to Diet Pepsi in 1964.

We used to take metal bottle caps and push them into the bark of a pine tree as a target for our BB guns and .22 rifles. Those old long bolt action Remington single shot .22 rifles were as accurate as a tiny Cruise missile.

Yes... and it was a 1/2 pint glass bottle with a cardboard stopper.. and every kid had to know how to turn the bottle upside down in the rack. or the evil lunch lady with the big mole with the hair growing out of it on her chin would yell at you.. it was 1st grade.

I was thinking only the older rifles use the .22 shorts anymore but my newer Henry lever action shoots them. I shot a rabbit yesterday with it (for my barn cats) but I always shoot long hollow points.

I'm so old I remember rifle ammo of all sizes being sold in the smallest of mom and pop stores.

Those old feed stores always had a great smell like fermenting hay and seeds. My grandparents lived right next door to one in the 1950s and 1960s.

Ha! I don't remember the dynamite but if the feed store beside my grand parents' house had it, my grandpa would have bought some. He was a gunsmith who once told the city policemen to "go to blazes" (in more flamboyant terms) when he would test fire his repaired guns into a large pine stump inside his shop in town.

ah, dynamite !

We used dynamite to get fish ( suckers and northern pike) on the river by our farm when the ice went out in spring. River was deep and fast.

My dad knew just how much ( 1/4 stick.........wrap with mud in an old cloth , add a rock for sinking, add a cap and fuse.......

Just enough to stun them so around the next bend a person with waders and a long handle spear could get them as they came down belly up.

It was a real treat to have fresh fried fish in spring...........even suckers.

I remember the control for the car's highbeams being on the floor and operated by the left foot.
