HA! I remember that. We thought we'd really moved up in the world when we got one of these ...

Of course we still only had three, maybe four, channels from which to choose.

All we got with UHF converters was Wrestling and Mexican stations.

We now get more over the air stations than we get on basic cable. Most are Mexican stations though.

Kerosene lamps as the sole source of lighting for our house.

The first day we got electricity ( about 1955) I was so shocked what a difference it made in lighting our house.

I would never want to revert back to pre-electric living.

I'm so old I remember... Trying to remember either Sears & Roebuck or Montgomery Wards had a home survival kit. Basically Korean War Vintage MRE meals - Water distillery for safe drinking water - blankets - first aid kit.. and a " Geiger Counter" for home use.

Us, as well. The funny thing about it is, even though we only picked up three or four stations, there was always something good to watch. Nowadays, you can have cable or satellite with 150 stations and everything on them is garbage. lol

I live close enough to the broadcast towers, I don't have cable OR satellite. Just an indoor antenna. I get to watch the cool shows from years ago ... Perry Mason, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Mannix, Ironside, Carol Burnett, The (original) Tonight Show with Johnny Carson ... oh so many

Everyone's mother hung clothes outside on the line to dry, then spent a day or two ironing while listening to Art Linkletter on the radio. Moms sprinkled the clothes with a pop bottle with a sprinkler top on it. If they didn't get finished, they rolled the damp clothes up in the refrigerator until the next day, so they wouldn't get moldy.

When Moses parted the Red Sea and me and my friends looked at each other and said "really dude? We brought our bathing suits for nothing?"
