Yes $1000 a year is about $925 too expensive. Here are some of the things you could do with that savings:

-Buy a latte every work day for the year
-Buy a season pass for Six Flags Magic Mountain for fourteen people
-Invest. 30 years at 7% compounded and you'll get a $7,500 payout
-Take your three kids on a skydiving trip, then to a steakhouse for dinner afterward
-Take a 3-day weekend in Hawaii

You get the picture.

For my hair and what I do, way too much. I get a near shaved head and have it lined up once and twice a month for $17 total a visit which usually includes a $2 tip.

To be fair some of the money we save always went to my wife's hair dresser to keep my wife as beautiful as ever at no additional cost to the family. It's a win win for the whole family!! I have no idea how much money we saved over the years but I know that it was enough to pay for many things we needed without straining our budget!

I really like the part where I can kiss the barber when she's done with my hair!

So buy a good clipper set , take good care of it , oil the blades (3 in 1 oil) after every use and start saving some real money!!
Wahl Hair Clippers
Sounds a lot like my family..We've always cut our own hair as well...still do, even the kids still come by for a haircut...

I spend $144 a year on haircuts for myself.

Now, my 9lb dog goes to the groomer for his haircuts, nails and related stuff six times a year at $72 each. Which comes to $452.

I still can't figure it out. . .

My guess is that he has more hair/fur than you.... but that's just a guess.
