My parents and my grandparents were all like that. Any man with hair longer than about 2 inches was 'filthy' and sinning. 'Long' hair [regardless of bathing and shampoo] on a male is rebuking God and dirty in some context outside of physical dirt.
Did your parents and grandparents never see a traditional depiction of Jesus?

"Traditional depiction" are the key words here. What do you suppose an actual Jew from the first century in the middle east really looked like. Hint: it was not tall & blond with European features.
I spend less than $15 a month , roughly 150 $ a year for haircuts; and I get quality haircuts. I believe for a guy it's not possible to spend that much in haircuts, unless the dude wants to sponsor his favorite hairdresser maybe ?
Take one zero out of the 1000 and you're just about right. Unless you are a corporate executive, a thou a year is outrageous..
I get a haircut every four to six weeks, and pay $7. plus $3 for a tip, total ten bucks..
No one needs a haircut every week.
I don't know you, but the fact you spend $20 a week on haircuts tells me there is something very wrong. Who are you trying to impress? Perhaps your money is being misdirected on the wrong kind of professional...
I could believe maybe once every two weeks, although I think most guys are more like 4-6 weeks. Get some clippers and trim around the edges if that is the issue.
$20/haircut is not unusual in major urban areas. Could be higher in some places. I'm talking about a normal place on the street or at the mall, not some high end hairdresser.
