Not to scare anyone, just a reminder they can be out there.

"All the victims were relaxing or sunbathing in their yard when the animals approached."

Wow - I wonder why they've become aggressive with people who are not feeding or interacting with them. Definitely unusual.

I don't know if this is the case here, but a rabid animal can behave out-of-character like that.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. How frightening for those people - just minding their own business...

According to a news report this morning someone in the neighborhood may be feeding them.

We are very glad that the people are all recovering. What a horrible thing to have happen to you while sleeping on your patio. The Coyotes are becoming less and less afraid as the build more and more into their habitat. You have to be out of your mind to feed them.

Right, no wild animal should be fed. It eventually helps them to lose their hunting skills.

In the Grand canyon, on a tour the guide pointed out a very skinny Coyote on a dirt road, and he said it's because people were feeding it, and now it doesn't hunt well, so it has difficulty getting enough food to sustain itself.

Oh, my gosh. Stupidstupidstupid. And now they've put their neighbors at risk, as well. Yikes.

Yea, I bet they are being fed. Even my cat will nip at my heels and feet if it's wanting to be fed. I am guessing that is what's happening. People really need to realize they aren't helping anything by feeding them.

We see coyotes regularly in our far northwest PHX (adjacent to north Peoria) neighborhood while walking the dog. The news mentioned spraying the 'yotes with a mixture of ammonia and water if they get too close, as a repellent. Might consider carrying a bottle of Windex around...
