oh,and remember cruising the metro circle in the 80's? and what was the name of the then swanky hotel that opened at metro around 82-83? that was the prom spot for everyone.its been 15 years since ive been back, but im told valley west mall is now a lowes or something?last time i was back for a visit, arrowhead mall seemed to be the new mall.it is a cookie cutter mall,an exact replica down to the same stores as northtown mall in spokane washington.i would imagine there are probably 100 malls exactly like arrowhead in the u.s.,pretty sad. but it still beats the old ghetto mall on thomas road in the 70's and 80's.

I remember cruising the Metro Center circle one or two times in 1982, but it wasn't as much fun as cruising Central Ave.

Arrowhead Mall opened in late 1994, and before then, that area was considered "out in the middle of nowhere". I do remember having dinner one time back in 1991, at the "Barn", which was around 59th Ave & Bell.

I've gone to Thomas Mall a couple of times in the past also, I think there's a Walmart over there now.

I remember as a teen, dicks drive in, cheap burgers on university, and rural.
I also remember sun club. I remember the old road to the airport, and the parties e had at the " airstrip". Wow, did not even know the ice rink at metro is gone. Thats sad.
Remeber legend city. Remember when Casa Grande had nothing but the monument, pretty much. Queen creek was farming land. We used to go out there to take a ceramics class at some ladies barn. Miss real monsoon storms. Remember the dust storms that were so bad, you thought a hurricane was going on outside, and did not dare walk outside, but when it was over, jumping on a bike and riding through the streams of water on the streets. It was so refreshing.

Commodore Condello's Salt River Navy Band - they rocked, at least according to the ears of this elementary school student.
