I agree with many previous posters - MIM for sure. I know it sounds boring if you haven't been... but it is truly unique, incredible and very interactive. You could easily spend 4-6 hours there.....

I never heard of this before now. Looked it up and found its $18 for adults to get in. Guess I will have to pass on this museum...

I think that's how much the Botanical Garden costs too. I guess it seems a little steep but how often do you really go anyway?

Everything is indeed very costly. When you have a few kids, it is just out off the picture.

Seen the queen mary in long beach a few weeks ago, and the sub, 28 dollars.... And that is just for walking around, you can get a tour, that is extra....

But than again, went to another museum, it was closed, but the guy let me in for free.......

And there's enough to see to spend the better part of a day, as others have indicated. Not a bad price for a day's entertainment. And, true, it isn't like you would go frequently.

I have been to the MIM and it really is a pretty interesting place, the cafe/restaurant is also very good and very affordable. I doubt my guests would want to go, but I can suggest it.

Surprised nobody has really mentioned the Museum district (Heard Museum, Burton Bar Library, Phoenix Art Museum and theater, Az Opera building, Irish cultural center and library, Az Center for the Arts) or Roosevelt Row with its shows and galleries. Tons of things to do art/history related within a small area. How about a bike ride through Encanto and lunch at a bistro? We have the nightlife, we have the restaurant scene, we have tons of things to do and nearly 9 months of good weather to enjoy it! In fact, I would be confident to say we are a very exciting place to be; there's always a new bistro, coffee shop, or store opening down the street or a new building under construction.
And the Central City isn't your thing, we probably have the greatest amount of outdoor activities within a reasonable drive than any metro in the country. All your water sports can be done within a short drive, fairs, old west towns dotting the mountainous landscape around the state, countless hikes that either descend into a natural spring or rise to pine serrated peaks. There's ski resorts and the beach is only 6 hours away. Now, if none of these options sparked something in you, then I don't know what the hell will.

The State Fair starts 10-11 I believe. That's tomorrow and is going on for a couple of weeks I think. That might be fun but I can't say for sure. I have only been here two years and haven't made the fair just yet.
