That is very typical for the midwest. You can easily need your AC in the morning and the heat by late afternoon.

I think the simple answer/reality is that the Phoenix metro isn't "that hot" for the vast majority of the year. Depending on one's definition of "hot", I'd say 7-8 months it isn't "that hot" and is ideal weather for the vast majority of people.
And this is only ONE of (too) many weather threads here! I really think a weather thread needs to be a sticky at the top of this forum and all weather posts can go in one place.

Very true. That didn't happen often in the Midwest. What gets me is that we have 30-40 degree temps swings quite often here in winter. 70-75 in the day, and 35-40 at night sometimes. I think that's why so many Phoenicians get sick in the winter.

actually, dont you guys have 30-40 degree temp swings all the time there?
I mean , morning lows of 70, highs of 105-110 in the warmer months?

dont get me wrong, this time of year, ANY temp above freezing is a bonus in chicagoland!

hoping this being my last winter here, it will be an easy one, and, aside from those 10 days of hell we had here a week or 2 ago, it has been above average in Chicagoland for almost every day over the last 5 months...Global warming, or not, there are only 2 more months of potential torture left here, so I am a happy camper at this point!

surprisingly, dallas in almost 8o degrees today, yet I see phoenix is only 65...

No, when the daytime highs start to hit ~110, then the nights are in the high 80's.
Once summer is in full swing some parts of the valley don't get lower than the 90s due to the "heat island" effect.

Right!

Great minds think alike. I also suggested the idea of having a sticky weather thread here on the Phoenix forum to a moderator once upon a time ago. Oh well, we can only ask I suppose.

Yep! Totally in agreement!

Definitely a Weather Thread STICKY! And how about a...

Traffic Thread STICKY?

...and perhaps a...

Pizza Thread STICKY?

ALL of these always get several pages of inordinate discussion!

I hear you Colt, good suggestions!

I'd add maybe just one more to your list....how about a traffic/darn crazy valley drivers sticky thread? That gets played out often here.
