I arrived out west 2 days ago for the first time, I can see why people love it here. NM and AZ are the most beautiful places I have ever been to or seen and add in perfect weather for 6-8 months out of the year!? I'm sold on Pheonix, trying to convince my wife to move out to Pheonix may be a battle tho
I agree! I felt the same way when visiting here for the first time. It's been over three years now and I still feel exactly the same way and lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

I'm at 10, still loving every aspect of being here.

Yes, if it gets old we knock it down and rebuild. lol

It certainly is great weather right now. I'm pretty happy about it.

We felt the same way when we first saw Arizona in June 2014. Sure, it was hot, but the lack of humidity makes that manageable. Loved it again when we visited in February. So this summer we moved out here.

We get out to the trails every weekend and marvel at the vegetation; where we came from, it was lush and green for maybe 5 months, but just leafless trees and brown dirt and snow the rest of the year. But here it's saguaros and palo verdes and palms year-round. 2-3 times a month we try to get out to Sedona, Tucson, or some other part of the state. Soon we'll branch out to see NM and California, since Phoenix is located within moderate road-trip distance of so many interesting places. We've spent more time outdoors in the last five months than we had in the last ten years in MN, even with the summer heat (which, again, is much drier out here). It's not perfect (it's taking me a while to find my niche professionally, and uprooting oneself has some unavoidable stresses) but we love it here.

Shorts and t-shirt weather all year round.
They say you can take more off if it gets warmer in a colder climate, but you still got to carry all that extra garbage with you.

Can't wait to ditch the plains and get back to familiar territory!!

For most!

There's a subspecies around these parts called the "Desert Rat", the lifers whose blood has thinned out to such an extent that the moment it gets below 70, they're whipping out their parkas and mukluks.

When I first moved to PS and went to my new employee orientation in early January, the instructor said he could tell just by our clothing who'd moved here from other climates vs. those who grew up here.

Not in the dead of winter. Some days you can get away with t-shirts, but shorts might be cutting it (unless youre a Canadian snowbird). Winter nights are definitely far too cold for t's and shorts, IMO.

We lived in Flagstaff for 7 years, Sedona for 4, and we have been in New River, north of PHX about 2.5 years. Wish we would have moved here SOONER! Yes, July and August are Hades, sometime last half of June and first have of September but at least during those month at night it cool a bit, but the rest of the year is very doable!
