So in one post you claim it's a GREAT location...and in the previous post you state, about people being robbed and people getting pistol whipped...Sounds wonderful and GREAT...

All Urban areas have their problems, even places like Shadyside and Oakland have crime....Mt. Oliver might not be the safest place in Pittsburgh, but it's definetly not as you describe it...I call BULLS**T...

Mt. Oliver is decidedly not nice. It used to be many years ago.

I just helped move a friend from here to another city neighborhood. I heard stories of beatings, drug deals (I saw one happening as I helped load the U-haul), and wayward people. It is a shame because there are such beautiful homes there. It used to be a middle to upper-middle class neighborhood. But, the trash moved in and it just became gross. There are still some good people there and some good streets. But, it is so hit-and-miss that the neighborhood is not worth even considering.

It's possible for a neighborhood to be in a great location and still suck. The Hill comes to mind.

Looks like Allentown to me -- kind of a "meh" area.

Mt. Oliver is a really bad neighborhood. I was at the red light on Brownsville Road a few years ago and a guy pulled out a gun on another guy due to an argument. We turned around.

Carrick is slightly better, however there have have been a few home invasions within the past year. There's also problems with drugs and vandalism there as well.

Steer clear of both.
