How are they getting a pass on their taxes? Have you seen what the effective tax rates are?

You all do know that retirement age is 67 for those born in 1960 or later, no?
Retirement benefits by year of birth

I fully expect not to retire until around 75, not 65. Yes, I knew this.

The longer they can keep us slaves to the system the better.... for them. Not like most people could afford to retire at 65 anyway... they've gotta pay that mortgage on the fifth or sixth (and most expensive ever) house they've owned since becoming adults that they moved into at age 60. Gotta pass the joneses...gotta pass the joneses.

LOL! At least you are funny!

Take your pick. drive back in time and start looking. we dont call it the "third rail" of American politics for nuthen.

Ronald Reagan gave a speech in the '60s that outlined a better way to deal with SS and it was rejected. that wasnt even the starting point.

Dems STOLE the SS trust fund moments after passing the stupid legislation in the 30's. It has been downhill every since.

This is a democrat failure and democrats have blocked 50 years worth of efforts to make SS work.

Um, Reagan wasn't President in the 60's, and his ideas wouldn't have worked. And while I agree that they stole the trust fund, and put it in the general, that was a long time ago.

As the statement goes, what have you done for me lately. Lets try arguing about people who are in power now, not the past. Can't change the past.

Keeping SS won't do very much when a loaf of bread is $50. I can see government desperately trying to enact price controls for seniors, causing massive shortages.

So what? He was a national figure and he represented what republicans had been saying for 20 years by the time he gave that speech.

beyond that there have been dozens of attempts to reform SS and democrats have blocked all meaningful reforms to SS.

SS is a democrat failure and democrats have protected their failure at all costs for more than 50 years.

the point here is that John Boehner is a messenger speaking about the fact that the democrats have failed the American people and Liberals on CD are mad at him.
