I only have reservations about his being a father due to his age. Having a child myself, I am fully aware of the hard work that is necessary to be a fully engaged parent. I suspect having a vast amount of wealth available makes it easier with respect to the physical demands of parenting. That being said, I would say the same for any parent at this age having a child, male or female, gay or straight.
I meet 40 year-olds who could never play with their kids cuz they're so unhealthy and out of shape and 80 year olds who are still running half marathons...it really depends on the parent. Both my grandmothers are in their 90s right now...and they're still ticking...they were getting around just find a decade ago...everyone is different.
But in 20 years, the 40-year-old will most likely still be alive and it's a very slim chance that the 80-year-old will still be alive.

The man is 48 and that makes him 68 in 20 years not 40. I am just stating a fact that, I understood very well, when my first son was born when I was 48 and the second one when I was 52.

I was referring to the posting regarding a 40-year-old father VS an 80-year-old one.
Why would that be confusing? Daddy acts like daddy acts.
You would rather the daddy in this story be a beer-swilling misogynist, just so long as he "acts manly"? What of the gay guys out there that *do* act manly and fly under most people's "gaydar"? Are they more fit to be parents?
By comparing two gay guys raising a child to a dysfunctional heterosexual couple raising a child, you are admitting that you don't think that the gay guys can compete with a functional heterosexual couple.

Nice leap in the logical chain there.
Calvinist stated there would be some sort of confusion or social problem with a dad who "acted like a woman". I simply stated that a daddy who "acted like a man" was no guarantee of being a good dad. See how that works?
Nothing to do with comparing a gay couple to a heterosexual couple of any stripe.

Reading is fundamental!
But introducing a "beer swilling misogynist" into the dialogue is a perfect chain of logic?
