I'd love to agree with you about libertarianism if only they didn't make habits of insisting everything 'takes care of itself'. Nothing takes care of itself. That's the point of duty/ stewardship so lacking in governance today. Privatization of government function is a negation of stewardship I adamantly oppose.
Dems don't want that but so long as legalized theft & tax loopholes exist for corporatocracy, they're powerless to deliver accountability through writ. Transnational corps are beyond their jurisdiction and porous borders of globalization are an assault upon our national system/ economy. America is a sitting duck for financial warfare and terrorists wearing the cloak of immunity under the guise of corporations are destroying America from within.
Yeah I do agree with you about libertarians insisting that as well. Especially economically libertarians think everyone should run according to what the consumer wants and demands. What a crock! If you took half of the wealth of every billionaire on the planet you would have 2 trillion dollars.
You could then redistibute all that and give everyone about $300. That'll help.
I haven't even figured in the administrative costs of obtaining the money at gun point and then handing it out. Just off the top of my head I would say your "plan" would put around $100 in everyone's pocket. Of course they need to pay tax on that money. It is income. Everyone gets $70. Thanks Mr. Helper.
Assuming no administrative costs, you could take every dime from every billionaire on the planet and it would mean everyone gets about $600. LOLs.

Getting people to be self sufficient by working and earning your keep is not only rewarding to them personally but also in many other ways.
We simply have to stop those who are not willing to work or earn their own keep and get people to be more self sufficient.
In the long run everyone does better, we get more taxes paid into the system to help with our infrastructure and schools etc.
Rewarding people for doing nothing by feeding, housing and giving them free medical care only keeps them held down and depressed. Which I believe is the liberal way of doing things, keeping one weak, down and out gives the libs control over the people.

The others fall far, far behind. The middle class is best served by any party whose primary goal is to cut unnecessary spending that we can't afford as well as taxes on people and their employers. Party #2 has been getting better at it, while #1 has failed miserably.
The very question itself seems to pit one class against the other and not what is fair to all. Typical class warfare if they favor one above any other;IMO.
There's nothing wrong with abusing the upper classes. I'm not talking people that make $250K a year being upper class.
To a family making $25,000 a year, $250,000 is wealthy.
