Right on, his birthplace was questioned from the beginning & the media never gave it any attention. If he had nothing to hide, why did he refuse to release the official record? Maybe it took this long to have one forged & placed into the records.
I tend to agree with you. But I think Obama's role in causing this controversy is more troubling than merely reflecting poorly on his judgment. If he withheld his birth certificate deliberately in order to cause this type of controversy then that makes him out to be extremely cynical--not an admirable trait.
On the other hand if he withheld the certificate because he felt the people demanding it did not deserve that level of disclosure from the president then he showed himself to be an elitist and not a democrat (small 'd'). Again, not a very endearing trait in a leader.
He released the actual state certified birth certificate three years ago. It really does not get more straightforward than that.
His legacy is how beleivable and authentic forgeries are these days!

Obama should have done this on day 1 instead of ignoring/avoiding it.
It reflects poorly on him and his claims of transparecy, he could have easily settled this issue years ago. The whole issue reflects poorly on his judgement.
As for the Birthers it's time to move on, case closed.

the document that he previously released was the only document he had and was more than acceptable proof to allow him to run for the presidency and prove he was a U.S. citizen. He had to contact the state of hawaii to get them to release it... which is just ridiculous.

You give Trump way too much credit. Corsi's birther book coming out soon has far more to do with the big reveal timing than Trump's big mouth. The release of the long form was also perfectly timed to get it moved off the news cycle very soon with all the royal wedding coverage coming this week.

Not like he isn't there every couple months. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a big deal to swing by the courthouse and get it done.
I don't know that I've ever said he wasn't born here...but I've questioned for 2 years now why he wouldn't just release the darn thing.
