Don't have to worry about hittin' a dime at 500 yards, only have to worry about hittin' some redneck tryin' to take my stuff at 10 feet------------NO PROBLEM!
Yup, because all the looting and destruction after a natural disaster are from rednecks. Right.....
Seems to me that soup lines in the city were the signature pictures during the Depression. Country folks raised their own food.
I do believe that folks living in rural temperate areas (rednecks) would fare much better than those in the city. Probably the "rednecks" would be guarding their food supply, keeping the "latte drinkers" from stealing it.

Yes, my parents and grandparents lived in the country during the Great Depression and didn't suffer hardship in the ways city people did.
They also didn't have to shoot any marauding "liberals" or "city slickers" and if anyone came seeking help, they probably gave assistance as best they could to their fellow Americans.

There have been many changes since the Depression. In the 1920's the population of this country was roughly 1/3 of its present population, and the society was still agrarian in nature. You are correct that the rural folks faired better than their urban cousins then, but the entitlement mindset of today was missing. People in the early twentieth century didn't think they were entitled to others' property.
Drivers then were quick to stop and help others on the roadside. How about now?
There was a trust in others that is missing today.

There is only enough water and food to support 4 people, who do you think gets voted off the island?
