As the anti-gay marriage provocateurs wopuld have us believe marriage has a religious significance. To that I would ask just when/where is religion mentioned when one goes to city hall for a marriage license?
Rick is right that this is not in America's interest. It doesn't contribute to the defense of the country or procurement of necessary resources. Those who feel it is worth a dime (or several) should simply donate their own money to organizations that promote this cause. This is not something government needs to be involved in.
Um, wouldn't the same apply to heterosexual marriage? Everyone from government to churches seems to believe it is one of the most important issues ever.
to love someone is...to get a GOVERMENT PERMISSION (marriage license) is not
I can love and be with whom ever I want....it has ZERO to due with what the government says or give me permission to do
marriage (a governmental contract(a license)) is not a right
Sorry, but the Supreme Court has declared otherwise. "Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival." Loving vs. Virginia
As for supporting LGBT rights in other countries, I think it's well within the purvy of the government to support equal human rights around the globe. Especially when American citizens are actively worked to persecute people in other countries.
This is over-the-top - even for Rick Perry. Just terrible. He says equal rights for gays are a "war on traditional American values".
Maybe he'll get the endorsement of the John Birch Society, but will there be anybody else?
What Perry REALLY said:
"Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money."
I happen to agree with that. Our nation is severely in debt, there are no jobs, and we have the worst economy since the Great Depression, yet Obama wants to spend taxpayer money to support gay rights in other countries? That is pure lunacy!
So, because we are a minute minority means you can treat us less, give us less? No where does it ever say that minorities rights are trumped by the majority. Do you not understand that you could be the next minority with your rights up to the decision of the majority? I refuse to accept fewer rights then that of my fellow citizens just because I am gay. It is not as if I can just become straight. My rights are just as important as anyone elses and should not be up for denial based on a bible. That is tyranny of the majority and it that continues to exist, everyones rights are up on the chopping block. Everybody's rights are important, not just yours.
If we keep electing communist government like we have now you're right, everyones rights will be taken away.

If it's a right, why do you have to pay for a license? Sounds like a privilege to me. Oh, if it's a right, why do they require you to even fill out for a license? It's NOT a right.

The homo agenda drivers will twist anything in their favor.
