The facts show that the project won't create many jobs; doesn't help our energy independence and will raise gas prices.

On energy independence, I'll link to this article written 10 years ago that I share often. It's all about the math.
Ya, but, but but it's going to give us Canuks a trillion American dollars or more over the life of this pipeline. WE need that money for our great social programmes so get with the plan please!

I really hope your post was made in jest; cause it's hard enough to get folks opposed now to at least see the truth. I'm not saying change their minds, they have a right to their OPINION, but to at least realize that when this line goes through, (and it will eventually the big question is when) that some of the propaganda is just that.. propaganda. Each side of an issue can put out as much info for or against it as it can pay for. We see it every time, with every pipeline we put in.

Is Keystone XL the big bad boogey pipe proponents say it's going to be.. NO! Is it always sunshine and roses, and will it completely solve all this countries problems?.... NO! When will people however; make informed decision's knowing and UNDERSTANDING both sides of the issue?

Not to mention, 1/3 of the jobs it is supposed to create, are in Canada.

Yes.. some of the jobs created will be in Canada... but the jobs here will be good-paying construction jobs (abeit temporary), paid for by PRIVATE funds, there will be a benefit to those communities where the workers are, and other industries will benefit. You do realize this right? Or do you just sit and make judgments on things you don't really know about firsthand because of what you read?

- Tar sands extraction is incredibly wasteful of water and other natural resources.
- It may or may not have negative environmental impact on the areas it runs through. Pipelines spring leaks all the time.
I will take your second point as gospel because I think many Americans would be SHOCKED to find that the Oil that flows through the Alaskan pipeline isn't destined for US markets but to Japan and other Asian nations who outbid the US on the world Oil market!
This is nothing but a sham by private companies that will do very little to benefit the US.
Meanwhile I had the "tea party" Governor of my state of Florida reject High speed rail which would have created 25,000 "temporary jobs" but would have fostered true economic growth between Tampa & Orlando as "Socialism".

I truly hoped that FL would build the high speed rail! Although, I don't know that it would have done more than finally creating the Utopia that was supposed to be Orlampa? LOL (I am serious!!) I voted yes for the train and voted no to repealing it.

are you also aware that the Federal gasoline tax at around 18 cents a gallon hasn't been raised since the early 1990s and is not indexed to inflation?

As for the Government "blowing" a trillion dollars it was more like $800 billion which about a third of it went to tax cuts to stimulate the economy. It's funny though IRAQ cost us about $800 billion while we "occupied" them with no deleterious benefit to the American taxpayer!

Sorry but $0.18 cents a gallon may have been fine 20 years ago but it isn't going to maintain our roads & bridges today hence why we saw the collapse of that interstate bridge in Minneapolis a few years ago.

Disney already has cruises to Port Caneveral on the east coast as part of their vacation packages. The high speed rail line would have turned Tampa into a cruise port in addition many people commute between Tampa & Orlando on a daily basis & the Feds were paying over 90% of the cost! That is true infrastructure spending and Disney doesn't invest in a project that will fail so they obviously knew it would be a boon to their business.
As for "Orlampa"? Give it another 10 years and it will be one!
