No. Let the free market work, and this minimum wage and mandating so many things is not the job of govt.

Most, if not all jobs already provide for vacation. I do not know one person alive that would agree to a job that didn't provide for vacation and sick-leave.
Sorry, but the "free market" isn't working on behalf of the workers. Hasn't in a long time.

Meanwhile, it's been working great for top business execs.

Exactly right. We're all different and the government shouldn't make us all the same and equal.

Government enforces regulations all the time that we have to abide by equally.

What are you taking about? We don't even pay taxes equally.

Thanks for the response. If you notice in my previous message I did not write it as supporting the government paying for anything. Maybe my message was not clear. I wrote it in the sense of IF but not so much that I support such thing. Take care.

Do you consider the free market to be successful in providing people with vacation time?

Seeing that the U.S. has the lowest amount of vacation time per capita among developed countries, I would see this "free market regulation" as a failure. We all (should) know that corporations and all businesses for that matter, does not inherently care for their employees welfare, only their level of productivity. Thus, vacation time (and other benefits) becomes minimal, as this (in the American perspective) decreases productivity and potential profit. Additionally, most people do not have the privilege of negotiating vacation time with their employer, so that statement of yours is invalid.

A government mandate is therefore the only way to secure ALL citizens yearly vacation time, a benefit I believe everyone should be entitled to.
