If you are a "confirmed Lutheran", you should understand what it means to the Jew, but I get the feeling that you are clueless.
So much for "confirmed Lutheran". You must have missed something in your Bible classes. If you have ever had any.
Every Christian knows what this is to a Jew ... or should. If they don't, they are only play acting.
Living in a garage doesn't make one a car. Spending Sunday in church, doesn't make one a Christian.
Can you be more condescending? I know the deal with the Jews and circumcision. You aren't the Grand Inquisitor who gets to decide who is a Christian and who isn't. I'm sure God isn't thrilled that you have elevated yourself to that position. You are exactly what is wrong with a certain segment of Christianity today - you think you get to lord your self-imagined religious purity over others.
Let's go all or nothing shall we, and bring back all the old testament laws! Animal sacrifices, killing infidels, etc.!
Religious "law" doesn't trump individual human rights, especially when that child hasn't an inkling of what religion is.
Why not educate your son on the risks of foreskins and STDs, and then let him make the decision for himself when he comes of age?
Because education only does so much. If it was a foolproof method, we would have eliminated the existence of all STIs long ago. But alas, promiscuous sexual activity continues.
And circumcision is much more painful and has a longer recovery period in adulthood. It also doesn't sound like a fun activity, letting a doctor get close to your penis with a knife. Most men would cringe at the idea, even with anesthesia and the health benefits. That's why it's better to popularize the procedure soon after birth. It would be most helpful in parts of Africa that are overrun by HIV, but male circumcision is not yet the norm and the grown men, understandably, aren't lining up for the procedure.
Baloney. We circumcise because of outdated Victorian ideals that have been ingrained in us by the establishment.
Is that what the parents you've asked have told you? Sounds like a strange response to me. I plan on circumcising any sons I may have for the increased protection from the spread of STIs
It isn't "curry[ing] favor! That isn't what it is about. Never mind. You are "out to lunch" on this one. You have no clue.
I'm amazed at the ignorance of people.
I'm sorry. Your religious freedom does not extend to another man's penis - even if he is your son.
Your supposed "right" to cut of parts of you child does not outweigh his fundamental right to have control over his body, especially its physical intactness. Parents are suppose to preserve and protect the rights of their children, not willfully violate them.

Tell you what, when we circumcised men actually complain about being circumcised you can come to our defense.

I'm one who is circumcised and complaining about it. So much for your silly absolute statements.
Do you suffer from sexual insensitivity because of it?
