Here's a midwife disagreeing with you:

Ultrasound before abortion not medically necessary - The Clinical Advisor

Here's the Guttmacher institute disagreeing with you:

But what do they know?

Would you think it's okay for non-medically qualified politicians making it a law that all women must undergo mandatory pap smears every 12mths(including the use of a speculum) even if they don't want one and it's not medically necessary?

First the anti-gay marriage amendment that was struck down.
Than the voter ID law.
Now a ultrasound mandate.

Republicans are ruining my state.

Yeah, medical professionals. Who needs them, when we can have state legislatures dictate what procedures should and shouldn't be done?

For a law to be constitutional, it must meet the compelling public interest test. What compelling public interest is there to mandate a test that is not medically necessary?

The reason for this mandate is to discourage abortions -- a legal procedure.

That would be logical. But I've noticed that chicagonut avoids questions she'd rather not answer...

The same people who support these laws will also argue (rightly, in my opinion) that restricting ammunition sales and gun registries and the like have nothing to do with gun safety and are really a backdoor way of banning guns. Amazing how they can't see how this is the same thing.

Your comparing apples to oranges here. Even a doctor will tell you that an annual pap test is a preventive measure to more serious health problems in the future. Your grasping at straws now.
