Instead of attaching the working poor that don't have cash to survive on much less any resources to tax, how about you take a look at all the corporations that are either paying zero taxes or even receiving cash back while they are showing billions in profits???

The report said GE earned $10.5 billion in pretax profit and had an effective tax rate of negative 45.3 percent in 2008- 2010.
Duke Energy Corp.’s tax rate was negative 3.9 percent on three-year pretax profits of $5.5 billion.
Verizon had $32.5 billion in pretax profits between 2008 and 2010 and had a negative tax liability of $951 million that resulted in a tax rate of negative 2.9 percent in those years.
Of the 280 companies, 78 studied paid a tax rate of zero or less during at least one year of the three year period.

I'm assuming everybody in here pissed about a substantial minority of Americans not paying any federal income taxes is also advocating the repeal of the Bush tax cuts, as well as substantial other tax increases for at the very least, a near-majority of American, right?
Yep, I'm pissed that many of the wealthiest corporations in America are paying zero federal income tax. It is disgusting. Oh, but let's tax welfare, food stamps, social security, unemployment and minimum wage paychecks so some wingnuts can sleep at night.
Say what? Is this extra tax state, county, or local?
City /county "school tax" for our local area. Doesn't go to the state or feceral level. From living across the country, it's not a new thing for us (we moved with base changes), so we are used to it; but some aren't.

I know we do. We make less than required to file yearly, but we do file to get those dollars back, plus EIC, Additional child tax credit, and our educational credits. Not to mention our meager budget would be even less and much harder to stretch, without that tax check come mid year. I an longing for the days coming soon when I don't have to worry nearly as much (post graduation, and good job in the future).

No smoking or drinking here (we both quit), and our cell phone is actually on his Mom's plan, lol. We literally pay less a month for a basic cell than we would a land line, and when we work different hours, both have a full class load, and kiddos in school a phone is as essential as running water and electricity. As is the internet, since we both have online classes.
Not everyone that is poor is a POS.
With your username I would think you would take a more compassionate stance on humanity, and much less a coporate stance.
How can anyone logically argue for the rich to "pay their fair share" of federal income taxes when in fact 47% of American's pay ZERO federal income taxes?
Yes, most people pay payroll taxes (Social Security, Medicare, etc). Those monies go to fund specific priorities, so there's no need for the obtuse to come forth and deflect. We're talking Federal INCOME taxes.....the money that goes to fund the public goods and services that we American's consume.
How is it "FAIR" that millions of a American's pay ZERO in light of the current class warfare schtick being pushed by the Left?
Where's the "fairness?"
"The rich should pay all of the taxes and the rest of us should get a free ride." Signed, Democrats.

Exactly. Tax cuts for those paying more than their fair share (the "rich") and tax raises for those not (the 47%).

Yep, let's go after the working poor..
GE is a great benefit to America, and of course there is the other side of the coin, which you omit completely.
Then let's get that idiot in the White House out of office so we can get some jobs back in this country.
Damn, you need a change in presidents just to find a job? That's pretty sad. Man, if he wins again in November, you'll have to go another 4 years without work. (me playing a large violin)
Just curious, what is the history of this pattern? How long have the bottom 47% been paying no taxes? Anyone have a historical tax rate for the lower income earners?
Personally, I think everyone should have skin in the game.

I second that motion.
