If you treat marijuana the same way responsible adults treat alcohol--that is, that it's something to be enjoyed after work like a nice glass of wine to help you relax and unwind, then pot is fine. If you feel that you need to smoke constantly throughout the day or end up at the point where you can't function without smoking a little weed--then you'll have a problem.

I've known people who insist they're fine smoking multiple times on a daily basis. And while they develop a tolerance and often don't fall into the stereotypical stoner behavior, I've seen them get moody and annoying when they can't obtain anything to smoke. You can develop a psychological dependence even though physically the addiction isn't as bad. At the same time a pothead is 100 times easier to deal with then an alcoholic--potheads just end up being a little spacey and losing their short-term memory. Some people can even smoke all the time and remain motivated enough to work during their job--although often these jobs are art, music, or maybe computer related. Some other people just sit on their ass and play video games, though often pot is just an aid to this lackadaisical lifestyle.

All in all though both pot and alcohol are fine in moderation. At the same time I don't ever feel the need to smoke marijuana, but I often rely on a few nights of more than a couple drinks a week to enjoy myself. All the same--just decriminalize it. Nothing will change, except will have less people getting arrested for minor drug possession.
