If you don't qualify based on financial need there are still loans available. Is that as good as a scholarship no but its better than not going to college at all.

The reality is that for todays college student very few get 100% scholarship rides unless they are exceptional academically or athletically. More lilkely than not they are getting a combination of grants, scholarships and loans.
Don't forget work study.

UCLA has now offered a football scholarship to Snoop Dogg's son.

At least they're consistent.

Is this scholarship funded by the taxpayers of California?

If it is not then it's none of the taxpayer's business.

Sooooo exactly how does this work because I thought were (as in city data posters) didn't like governemtn fin aid, which is what poor people get.

But we also don't like private scholarships because rich people can get them too?

I know let's just get rid of all scholarships & grants. Then only people who can afford college will go with their own money and everybody will be happy.

Applied? You are granted an athletic scholarship- the school decided it- varsity athletes are generally scholarship athletes in football. No written section for this one.
