I agree re: Bloomberg, but those cops are idiots too. The shooter wasn't shooting & he was 10 FEET away! And the cops still can't keep their rounds on target! I've been in gunfights! Those cops should be fired! A fundamental rule of gun fighting is to keep the front sight on the target. They didn't. They were firing wildly, recklessly with no regard to innocent life. No excuse!
And again, if it had been civilians doing EXACTLY the same thing those civilians would be in jail. Or shot (at) by other cops! Double standard. Again.
The point is that many on the Colorado thread were arguing they could have made a difference, if only they were there, and yes there are examples of CC types killing innocent bystanders accidentally, not scary stories, just actual facts.
Sources? Quite frankly, the fact that you would mention this and then not provide any sort of documentation makes me think that you are mistaken.
Straw man? He had a gun and was raising it towards the officers. What exactly would you suggest they have done? Called time out? Not fired and simply allowed him to fire at them?

Unfortunately a very small percentage of gun owners actually look forward to the moment, very differerent in real life.
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Houston Police confirm it was a customer with a concealed handgun license who accidentally shot and killed a store clerk. The CHL holder was trying to protect Tyrza Smith, 26, from armed robbers, but something went terribly wrong and she was killed. .................................................. .................................................. ...................
He pulled out his weapon and got in a gunfight with the robbers. Smith was caught in the crossfire, and ballistics tests show the CHL holder killed her.
Should the customer have pulled his weapon, especially since most robbers are happy just getting the cash?
It's a split second decision all legal gun holders pray they'll never face.
