I really wish right wingers would get the slightest clue what freedom of speech actually means. Then these threads would be less mind-shatteringly stupid.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean you're free to say whatever you want and everyone else just has to listen. People are free to respond to what you say.
Freedom of speech also doesn't mean you have a right to be a commencement speaker (at a private university, no less) against the wishes of the people who are part of said event.
Carson is free to peddle his hate wherever he can find a platform to spread it. That doesn't grant him some entitlement to say whatever he wants without question. That doesn't mean others must give him a platform.
Something tells me the right wingers would magically understand this concept of Bob Jones U or Liberty U students decided they didn't want Rachel Maddow (for example) to speak at their commencement. But as usual, the righties are clinging to the view that freedom of speech means they say whatever they want, wherever they want, and everyone else is "free" to shut up or agree with them.

This, there was always some strange protest going on when I was in college. I seriously doubt that has changed.
Dr Carson grew up poor and he knows what it's like. He is a religious man, he is a soft spoken man and. once poor now rich Dr Carson is a success story. The liberals must silence him. He could easily and quietly enjoy his retirement but knowing the struggles of being poor but being a religious man he is drawn toward speaking up. In doing so he has nothing to gain. He will be a liberal target.
Can we see Dr. Carson's college transcripts? Do you suspect he was accepted into Medical school through Affirmative Action?
No, I don't. I think he was accepted into medical school because he had a mother who made education a priority. She was illiterate, but took her boys to the library every Sat. and had them write a book report for her every week. They didn't even know that she was illiterate.
Other blacks made fun of them for being too "white." Other parents chastised her for taking them to the library instead of letting them play ball with the other kids.
Both of her boys have grown up to be very successful. It is truly the American dream.

Do you think that Dr. Carson would tell those "young minds" how, welfare for his mamma, food stamps, and Affirmative Action helped him to succeed?
