Funny how those two things go hand in hand MTAtech, though the Cons will still find a way to blame it on the "evil unions."
You'll find that many of us personally consider unions to be populated with people that want to be paid for for doing less while holding their company hostage when those demands aren't met. But in the private sector, that is perfectly OK. If management and unions agree and can make a go of it, they're free to.
But public sector unions are a completely different issue. They are truly evil.
My point is, we need the unions around to maintain our standard of living. The "job creators" are not going to keep paying good wages out of the goodness of their hearts. They wouldn't be lobbying for mass immigration if that was the case.
There is, of course, the Republican Party's 'Operation Retard' campaign. You reduce the purchasing power of the American worker by destroying unions, thereby retarding profits for your company. The same people thought up the budgeting plan of cutting taxes for the rich, including corporations, while increasing government spending on weapons.
The income of the middle class grew dramatically during the 1940s and 1950s, because of an expanded government and inflation was outpaced by middle class income gains. Those were the golden years for the middle class. It was the time when that expanded government spent more on public education and programs that helped the masses. Eisenhower did not cut back those programs. He honored them, as his below quote states.
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, l952-----
No one today wants to abolish those programs, today. Making them more efficient and competitive markets, reduces cost.
Ike reduced the size of the bloated government, Hoover, FDR, and Truman created, by 2/3's, reducing government spending. He also raised taxes on everyone, not just the rich. He busted unions to get the returning military personnel work. He also GOT RID of the illegal alien parasites, to get the returning military personnel work.

You can't have a "global economy" as it is being pushed by the Democrats AND force employers to fund an artificial standard of living for American workers. If you want to compete on the world stage, you have to compete with its workers.
I love how the OP is so ignorant that he doesn't know 97% of hostess's debt came from scam arrests like Mitt Romney. They would do a hostel take over, load the company up with debt (so they get their original money back), and then how they made additional profit was by selling the company on. The company ends up worse off because it has massively more debt, the workers end up worse off because their jobs are less secure, and future investors don't do as well because it turns out companies loaded to the hilt with debt just aren't as dynamic or secure as companies which are debt free.
That's why "corporate equity" companies should really be called by their origin name from the 1980's "corporate raiders". Their goal is just to steal everything possible and then find a greater fool. They have never and will never create a single penny in net new value and instead they're actually a net drain on the economy but ever since Reagan the tax code has been designed for people who flip a quick buck instead of long term investors who actually want to build a company. THAT is why America has been in decline for 30 years and it all goes back to the failures of Reaganism.

So I expect you won't be complaining when your new job now pays you 25 cents an hour? That's about the prevailing wage in most of the world today and that is probably pretty generous.
