The Walmart in west Mississauga was icky ten years ago too. This isn't a recession issue. The whole atmosphere in the store has always been depressing. I don't bother complaining to businesses. I just move on.
They need to start massively fining companies like Walmart who's entire business model is to off load costs on to taxpayers. Make them pay 100% of the cost of the services for their employees. They can either pay their employees more or they can pay a massive tax bill but their business model of sticking taxpayers with the bill must change.
Yes lets tax them out of business. Its a proven fact that government meddling in the marketplace always improves the economy, right?

I don't know about the States, but here it depends by province or if you're working on the federal level. Some places it's 44 hours in a week before overtime kicks in and some places it's 40 hours and some places anything over 8 hours in one day.

Private businesses are not responsible for what happens to their employees when they leave work. It is not their problem to make sure they get tucked into bed at night.

Doesn't Think4Yourself thinks WM has millions of brain surgeons working for them who would be making $500k apiece who have been kidnapped, forced to work for $10.27 per hour on average. That all of us are paying for that mistake they made in underestimating their Fair Market Value. Maybe if we all use enough drugs we'd come to the same conclusion.
