A picture snapped by a parade-goer at a parade in Hope Mills NC shows a man on a tractor flying a confederate flag and pulling a wagon loaded with watermelons. A sign on the trailer read: “White History Month. Hug WTE PPL.”
Town officials said when the farmer applied for the parade permit he would be hawling watermelons with a sign they are for sale at a nearby bank.
so you expect poor people in the south to trust the federal government now? it's always telling when a liberal pretends to know what is in the best interest of others. this is why there are poor people who vote for republicans. it's because liberals are an arrogant bunch.
Dude, there are more issues than the Federal government that southern white folks consistently get wrong. Po white folks have been kissing rich white folks butts for since before the Civil War.
They supported slavery despite the fact that it was the instrument that kept the south mired in an agrarian economy,
They supported Jim Crow that allowed their white southern boses to keep wages low,
They gave away tax dollars to large corporations who promised to pay them less than the union wage and as a result kept their schools underfunded and their healthcare system a bloody mess.
They fought unions almost as hard as they fought integration which kept their earnings low and the level of safety in their work places even lower not that either benefitted them in anyway.
If take the argument that African Americans vote for the Democratic Party to get free stuff, then what do po white folks in the south get for voting for the Republicans?
Aside from guns, jeeezus, and the illusion that they are better than black folk, they get nothing, in fact they get less than nothing, lowest educational attainment, highest infant mortality rates, and highest rates of poverty.

you seem confused. the union argument is weak. just ask detroit how grateful they are for democrat leadership and unions. also, I am pretty sure that OSHA took the safety responsibility away from the unions. so you are a democrat, and I assume you call yourself "pro immigration." as in, you support amnesty. funny how you'll never admit that importing poor people into the country has had a huge impact on wages.

The American slave system was like none other in the history of existence. A group of people were permantely stripped of their identity and culture. Unlike whites, you can find only a handful of blacks (myself included) who could trace their ancestry as far back to the 17th century. We are still feeling the after effects of it and Jim Crow.
Actually, if you know history, the American slave system is thanks to a black man. Prior to 1655 there were no slaves, only indentured servants, and the MAX time they were servants was 7 years, then they were required to be freed.
Want to thank someone, thank Anthony Johnson. The first slaveowner, a black man.
Why not learn history, and place blame squarely where it belongs.
