I don't understand the outrage. I don't agree with the verdict, but what are people demanding from our government?
It isn't. People who don't like the verdict are out for their pound of flesh and want him charged with something. Even if he did profile Martin, it was Martin's decision to react with violence, (ironically, reinforcing the stereotype showing that Zimmerman was right to have identified Martin as trouble regardless of why he thought he was trouble.) that set this in motion. It's not like he walked up to Martin and shot him in the back. He shot someone who was, clearly, beating him.
To answer to title of your post, because Martin looked like, in Obama's own words, "what his son would like like, if he had a son".
most people who use this quote fail to add the rest of it. which is when he thinks of trayvon he thinks of his own children. the man was talking like a parent.
Were those statements offered in court? Since Zimmerman declined to testify, wouldn't hearsay then apply to those statements - and absent an exception to the rule, wouldn't those statements therefore be inadmissible?

"Any lie you tell can and will be used against you in a court of law."
"If you cannot concoct a lie, one will be provided for you."
"I didn't remember having my gun on me, because I always carry it where creeps carry theirs.
