Looks like Alabama deserves it's reputation for rampant bigotry.

Except the story isn't true.

Read the resolution, (which wasn't binding in any case.)

There have been white members ever since the founding.

Amen to that. I have a crazy notion of going to good schools with bad football teams to get my education....instead of the other way around.

It has sparked outrage as critics blast the 'backwards' state of student societies more than half a century after the university first granted black students entry.

You should have titled the thread "I am a nigerian prince and I seek your aid in recovering $60million dollars".

It would be more accurate.

To be truthful, as a grown man I find it quite unnecessary to prove anything to anyone especially to KIDS almost half my age by being humilated in public. If you really want to know, I earned my stripes in the United States Military during the war while you were being paddled in college.

I will not knock those who pledge, but I will never understand why people who do not come from a greek lineage would want to be one. In the begining they were denied from entering white fraternities and soros so they formed their own, but as far as I'm concerned there are still people who are trying to be something that they are not.

It's just for camaraderie at the end of the day. I have a glue that will keep me attached to my line brothers for life...and there is a level of comfort in that. While I don't regret the experience, I do believe it is overrated. You don't need the frat life to make these relationships. They really are glorified gangs.

And youre right...the black frats started because they wanted to fraternize and couldnt in.white circles...and did that experience and historical reference resonate with subsequent chapters? Hell no it didn't because the black frats marginalize their own. Which is why I have absolutely no reservations about the premise of this thread.

Usually I am adamant against legislative coercion...but not in this instance. Not at all.

This is complete BS, my sister belonged to a sorority and I know for a fact they did much community service work among other things.
