Exactly. It was about "owning" another person and exploting their labor for one's own benefit. It wasn't about race. Both Blacks and Whites owned slaves, and were slaves.

A good question. Another question would be why didn't the people on the African continent band together to protect their lands, and do something to stop it?
Their enemies in the next town over in the next tribe were also Africans which means they were indeed "their people". Your attempts to dismiss facts are pathetic.
You are going on the assumption, propagated by Europeans, that all "black" people are some formless mass and that one "black" person is the same as any other "black" person. Do you have the same criteria for whites or for Europeans? Why have Europeans been slaughtering each other for millennia (as well as people all over the world)? Aren't the Germans and Jews the same people? If that is the case, why did the Germans slaughter so many of "their people?"
