$118 trillion divided by 313 million = $554,000 to each individual person. Of course that isn't cash laying around but the value of houses and everything else.

Hey, would be worth the entertainment value to watch every citizen in Detroit or Baltimore get $500k in cash.

I could buy an entire block in Detroit and collect rent the rest of my life.

Fewer people very day can afford the services....but, that was our choice.

It is certainly possible - some people do it - but there are more people who work hard and don't have money.

I say we equalize beauty. Take the looks from the beautiful by throwing acid in their faces and take their money and give ugly people free cosmetic surgery.

I say we equalize intelligence too. Lobotomize the super intelligent. Since there's no way to make dumb people intelligent, let's end it there.

I also say that we hobble the quick and cut the vocal cords of great singers.

We should also limit the number of books that one author can sell to 10,000 that way people will be forced to buy lesser talented writers books.

Limit the number of time that a movie can be shown to 100, again, people will have to see lower quality films and help redistribute the earnings throughout the industry.

People already buy plenty of crap, like romance novels, pulp porn, and Westerns.

Yes, but they don't get to sell as many novels as the talented writers...

You can't make everything equal. If they did redistribute wealth what would you do about the people who squander what they were given and the ones who invest it well? Redistribute again? and again? and again? Often there is a reason the poor are poor and the rich are rich. If the plan is to redistribute every year or so, who is going to work in the factories building our cars? Who is going to fix our rusty pipes? Teach our children? Grow our food? If money is free, what is the point of working? If no one works, what is money worth?

But only by the most talented writers of such topics.

Let the lesser talented have a fair shot.

We would all be takers , because the givers would feel exploited for their hard work and join the takers.

Thank you.....but, we drill for water.

More important than oil if you really think about it.

Let's see. If we redistributed wealth someone like me, who doesn't have enough money all on my own to build a paved road to my house, would have some of my money pooled with money from other people, some of whom don't even live in my neighborhood, and we would have a paved road in my neighborhood.

Someone like my next-door neighbor, who doesn't have enough money to buy even one F-18 or aircraft carrier, would be protected by an entire fleet of aircraft carriers, and a squadron of F-18's just forty miles away, because money from other people has gone to make up the shortfall.

Maybe the OP can fly in an airplane even though he doesn't have enough money to build an airport or an air traffic control system because the government has taken, by the force of law, money from other people to build those things.

Yeah, OP, you're right. Wealth redistribution would be terrible.
