Not at all. It actually makes me feel more at home.

I only have that in government places that it is bothering me especially when I was a witness in court and for another case an illegal with an interpreter was told he could be deported and was walking out of court free after driving without a license and under age driving...no word of English and breaking our laws.

At SSA we hardly heard any English but it seemed to be like we were abroad instead of in the USA. And this was not Miami where more Spanish is spoken than. English as it seems.

No, it does not bother me. But I wouldn't be caught dead at a mall
No, *I'm* Fancy-Schmancy!

I think the OP is worried they are talking about him...

It upsets me when they have to find an interpreter for the people in front of me at the urgent care and I have to wait with a crying kid ..... Then I hear they do not have insurance and that really upsets me...

Nope, I hear Cherokee when I'm up in the Qualla, anytime I'm with my NDN sisters and brothers I will often hear their language spoken and it's wonderful!

I don't have a problem with it right now. People have the right to speak whatever language they want amongst their peer group. I speak in Spanish to my fellow Puerto Rican co-worker. Nobody cares

No, I am not too interested what language people use in their private conversations. Maybe you can walk over and tell them to speak English so you can eavesdrop.

What services were you refused? And how we're you refused service if you didn't know what they were saying?

When I visit my X-sister-in-law in Miami there are 30/40 blocks of homes and businesses that speak Spanish. My sister-in-law has been in the US for over 20 years and knows very little English.

She gets along OK.....but, I think she could do better.

The question is does it bother me.....no.....in fact I need to use my Spanish from time to time.

I live in northern Michigan......in the summer once in a while people will be speaking Spanish.....and if I think they need help.....I will offer.

Most are very surprised when I ask.

It happens.

Most of the time they will just shake their head to indicate "no".

It could be to just get a burger.
