After reading the posts in this thread, it is obvious you'all are engaged in a great delusion fest. Is it any wonder that sane Americans are for gun control. Your posts speak volumes.
All amendments have limited protection. We cannot yell "fire" in a crowded theatre, for instance.
I'm sure the Il AG reviewed the proposed law to insure it complies with the LIMITS of the 2nd amendment.
You can't yell "water" or anything else in a movie theater. That has absolutely nothing to do with the 1st.
The 1st protects someone from being harassed by the government for speaking out in support of the 2nd.
Unfortunately, our current regime doesn't respect either.
I think it was just a year or so ago that Chicago got its hat handed to it by the SCOTUS involving their gun ban in Chicago. Local and state politicians are always writing legislation that if left unchecked, violates the rights granted by the constitution. That's why we have federal courts.
and all laws remain law unless there is a successful challenge to them.
I recall an ACA SC case, and last I checked, ACA is still law. Because it was upheld as legal.

That's right bob, your local and state officials can take away your rights until such time that it is determined that your rights have been violated. This not only pertains to the 2nd amendment, but to all of your rights... In other words, if you support the violation of the rights of one, you support the violation of virtually all your rights. It doesn't really matter which you are talking about. You can't just preserve the rights that you as an individual want preserved.

There are no violations of rights, unless that is proven to be the case.

bob, if I come in and search your house without cause and without a warrant, but I am able to stave off the court system, have I violated your constitutional rights?

How is it sane to strip people of their rights for the actions of criminals?
Also the who "sane Americans" support gun control argument is a joke.
Does Chicago have the strict gun laws in America yet also have more shootings the Kabul?
