Yes, in a heartbeat. It would be refreshing to have a POTUS who doesn't feel the need to pander to the religion police who are gauging if he/she passes some litmus test to prove they are "Christian enough."

All other things being equal, I'd prefer to vote for an atheist. But of course all other things are never equal, and I would no more vote for Karl Rove or Yaron Brook than I would for Pat Robertson.

Chuck Baldwin. Ron Paul in 2012, and I support Huckabee now (as I did in 2008).

And just WHAT politician, POTUS or not, has ever pushed for abortion?
Any pro-choice candidate is out of the question.

I'd prefer someone who doesn't pander to religious interests. I'd also prefer someone who doesn't suffer from the mass delusion known as religion. We've had some of the latter in office, though they still fake it and try to pander to the nuts so they can win elections.

I will vote based upon their record for doing the jobs they were elected to do in past positions along with their rhetoric of what they plan to do as POTUS.

Edit: I'm going to expand on this a little.

If a Muslim were running for President and he/she has no record of trying to push an Islamic agenda, their religion would have no bearing on my vote.

If an atheist were running for POTUS and had no record of trying to push an atheist agenda, their lack of religion would have no bearing on my vote.

If a Christian were running for POTUS and said that alcohol was leading to increased sin and wanted to place restrictions on when and where it could be sold (which is a local issue IMHO), it would negatively affect my opinion on them being a good President.

Are you referring to President Obama?

I'd vote for a non-Christian candidate as long as they weren't Mormon, Scientologist, or a member of any other sect that I personally consider to be a cult. No offense to any Mormons or Scientologists here...this is just my opinion.

I'm especially curious about the atheist one.
I don't think a persons religion should have anything to do with who runs and who we should vote for. anymore than gender, sexual orintation or anything else whould play a part. What I don't want is a hypocrite or someone who pretends to be what they are not or takes a "I am superior to you" stand because of their religion or lack of same.

I don't think it makes a damn bit of difference what religion the President is or isn't. They are going to act in accordance with the people behind the money who put them in place.
