Blasphemy is equivalent to treason which is punishable by death but after a trial.

The extremists are doing just that..taking islamic law to the extreme and skipping the trial.
The problem goes back to the period right after decolonization/independence when the US decided to team up with the Wahabi Saudis over more socialist leaders like Nasser and Qaddafi because they feared growing Soviet influence. When the Soviet and Qaddafi and other regimes eventually fell its no surprise the very rigid Wahabi style filled the vacuum.

Heck when Nasser ascended to power he abolished all religious courts and tried to limit religion in politics and governance.

That's easy..he was communicating with radicals in the ME and was very anti-American in his views of the war.
That coming from a member of the US Military.

The USG already had that info though and did nothing.

I guess France's version of 'anchor babies'.
Not necessarily. The brothers parents were from algeria, which was a french colony until the late 50s. So they most likely had some kind of french citizenship rights before they ever left algeria to come to france.

And?

A 22 year old white Christian from a wealthy family just murdered two people by arson in a neighboring town to mine, should young Christian men now be profiled?

Was the murder done for religious reasons ?

If not then go find some other example.

So did saddam hussein, who at one point had a roman catholic in his cabinet.

There is a lot that is secret about the us relationship with the saudis. On the one hand, the saudis continue to promote wahabbism. On the other, they provide information and other help to the us in our current mideast wars, both covert and declared.

A recent us president was photographed, more than once, holding hands with a saudi prince.

The Associated Press, quoting federal law enforcement officials, said Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats. The officials said they were still trying to confirm that he was the author.

Since when is murder for religious reasons the only ones we should try to prevent? By your logic, groups like the murderous Basque separatists and the FALN should be ignored since they don't kill for religious reasons, eh?
