Because copying one would instantly make you a Communist.

I'm not getting what calligraphy has to do with world geography. It belongs in an art class.

I think the point is that although a cursory knowledge of religion in a 'cultural sense' (Martin Luther, Sunni, Shia, Hinduism in India etc) is fine (how we got here), religion in a 'real sense', is a liability, past its sell by date.

You have a point - since the Cultural Revolution is now a quaint artifact. But Islam is in the ascendant - now, in an aggressive way. It's ironic when liberals (I'm a 'liberal' myself) defend - or at any rate cut considerable slack to absurd myth (arguably religion makes fools of us all) - in this case a myth that acknowledges (in theory - and sometimes in practice) death for apostasy. Want to opt out, or reject it? then you should die. Parody it? Your life's at risk. A woman as a witness, as opposed to one man? Two are required. The great liberal tenet is 'let's defend the poor underdog'. Islam - in a non secularized form - that's practiced by many, is far from being the underdog - it's an oppressive tyrannical cult.

That's a fair point, too. Although, there are many aspects of the study of geography.

Geography is not being able to point to New York City on a map. Geography is being able to point to NYC on a map and determining why it developed there and how it influences people today.

Personally, with so little instructional time in a year, I would skipped the calligraphy in my lesson planning.

Kind of a stretch there isn't it? To answer your question, yes, it will most likely come down to that one day in the not too distant future. May want to search out 'muslim demographics" one day.

You don't approve of coexistence, so I would say not a stretch. Particularly since you now say, "it will most likely come down to that one day in the not too distant future".

I asked precisely the same question earlier. No answer yet.

Well, they teach that aspect too...don't they?
