I think this is yet another case of common sense has flown out the window. Teaching kids about other cultures and religions is wholly possible without assigning a copy exercise that is a statement of faith for the religion.

2. OP, you do know, don't you, that the Daily Mail is a British newspaper and when they are talking about something that happened in the U.S. it's always some outlier story designed to make Americans look the idiots we sometimes are.
3. People who publicize stories like this always attempt to make it seem like this is some kind of national trend, not a single instance of something unusual, often taken out of context. Why? So people like the OP will get all stirred up and post links to their newspaper.
