What exactly is "engaged in business" and who gets to define that?

Machine guns and short-barrel shotguns are not exactly easy to come by. Between the tax stamp and the ATF check, we haven't even factored in cost. Want an M-16? Be ready to pay $10,000 or more. Short shotguns are hardly a worry. 3 rounds in many of them isn't getting too much done.

$500MM for mental health? It's a good start. I'd like to read a bit more on that when time allows.

Hiring more examiners seems expensive. No doubt starting pay would be in the $45k+ range and we won't see them in action for quite some time with training and such.

Require the reporting of a lost or stolen gun in transit? Who wouldn't report that? Seriously. You just lost merchandise worth hundreds of dollars and "ahh, no big deal"?

I really don't see any of this being effective aside from the mental health part, but how do you work it? Tax stamp firearms are so rarely used in crimes it is hardly worth mentioning. I think I've read of 2 cases of that kind of thing. Illegally modified guns are a different animal. Blocking trusts or corps from buying them will not stop some maniac from taking a hacksaw to a Mossberg in his garage.

It's better than the zero new ones that the Republican Party and NRA are likely in favor of. Of course, we'll hear whining about the cost of adding these new agents, regardless.

Where will he get the money to hire 430 more people? No way that congress will give him the money.

This is unenforceable, as it is not law. Obama has no authority to make law. Secondly, "executive orders" may only apply to the administration and government agencies. They do not apply to private institutions, citizens, etc.

Therefore, there is nothing to compel anyone to follow his "order."

Obama is not a King, though he may think he is. Do not comply.
Here's the thing... Automobiles kill slightly more people than guns, yet not only is there no Constitutional Right whatsoever to have a car, no background check is required to buy/lease one. Obama is clearly over-reaching on this.

"...shall not be infringed."

Obama's EO infringes on a Constitutional Right.

Very true. The GOP's response to multiple mass killings in the past several years has been one long, collective "yawn".

Obama does have the support of the American people on this issue, and poll after poll has shown that. Period.

In general, the public is stupid. They don't understand that this will do nothing.
