Look, I'm as pro-2nd amendment as the next guy and got really nervous when Obama announced that he was going to take sweeping action through his executive order, but you really have to read the news without emotion before deciding how you feel.

Obama's executive order accomplishes nothing. He knows it accomplishes nothing, but he wanted to have something on the books with his name on it. So that's what he got- an order that protects nobody, does nothing to prevent future crimes, and actually won't even slow down the sale of guns in the country, but it DOES have his name on it.

I think this executive order is more revealing in how useless it is than in how far-reaching it is.

Obama has given congress 2 1/2 yrs to come up with a gun control bill and they have come up with jack time is up something need to be done. NRA loves mass shooting after one happens they can fear monger the publican and there will be a increase in gun sales for 2 to 4 weeks after a big mass shooting There is no reason some need 5 to 15 guns 1 hand gun for home protection is enough and you do not need to take it everywhere you go like the park or doctor office

I disagree. As he said, things do not happen overnight. I think people are getting fed up with mass shootings and weapons being available to just about anyone.

It might take 10 years, maybe only 5. But it WILL make a difference in time.

I'm not sure how much noticeable impact this will have on day-to-day guns sales. Gun dealers have to do a background check anyway when you make a purchase. That part hasn't changed and, I'm guessing, is probably the majority of firearms transactions in the country.

If you sell your Remington 870 to Uncle Elmer in March and in November take your M1911A1 to a gun show and sell it, I'd wager that life will go on as normal.

Even I didn't guess he would pull a Pelosi ...... BOO HOO - it's for the CHILDREN.

He can't get around the FACT that the killers in ALL of these Mass Shooting went through a Background check.
Adam Lanza murdered his Mother and then stole her guns for the Sandy Hook Massacre.

Not a single thing he wants to do (ignoring the fact that a Democratically held Senate rejected all of this) would have stopped any of those shootings.

I have no clue why he is doing this - it WILL hurt Democrats in the 2016 election and all this "spending" goes into the Budget that will begin on October 1, 2016, which will probably get a series of Continuing Resolutions. That's exactly what the Democrats did to the last Bush Budget. This is a bunch of empty ***-*** ..... and of course the Lawsuits by the States if he attempts it. What exactly is his point?

In order to drive a car, one must have a license and training on how to drive a car. No comparison.

As President Obama said, what about our other rights? The right to peaceful assembly (theatre shooting), the right to live one's life (Sandy Hook)?

What about THOSE rights? They are less important than someone's desire to shoot people and having the means to do so?

Interesting examples, since the weapons used in those attacks were obtained legally, using background checks. Holmes used a very popular sporting goods chain store, as well as a local gun shop and everything was done properly.

Perhaps someday we`ll have a president that will side with the criminals, crazies and terrorists but certainly not in the next 16 years...at least.

The fake crying was a little much. My eyes tear up under tremendous pressure/allergies/anxiety as well. He doesn't fool anyone (well, maybe some).

Those people will always be able to get guns. Obama would like the law-abiding to be defenseless.
