What in the world could this passage mean? Could O'Reilly really thing that how well a slave is fed is a cogent argument - that "cuisine" offered makes slave-holding less of an abomination?

Do some people really think slavery was some kind of entry level job with just a few "perks?"
Ahh you chose to cherry pick spinning it as if he was saying it was justified but in fact he was confirming that Michelle Obama was correct. Read below.

He explained how while slaves did participate in the construction, “Records show about 400 payments made to slave masters between 1795 and 1801. In addition, free blacks, whites, and immigrants also worked on the massive building.”

“Slaves that worked there,” O’Reilly continued, “were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802. However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor.

So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well.

Democrats and their DIRTY POLITICS is sickening

SICKENING!

No this is not "cherry picking." It is pointing out that people like you and Bill choose to dismiss the evils and thus dismiss the people who have been most effected by slavery by attempting to obscure the horrors and historical significance with insignificant minutia and BS side issues. Plain and simple.

People could be thankful, considering how close the African slaves came to getting deported from the country after the Civil War. Unless they think they would be better off in Rwanda or some place like that.

They come here on working permits, and take American jobs, and they call it legal...

The corporations pay them much less....and put them up in apartments....
Turn it around. US businesses recruit and hire foreign labor.

All working under H1A ( agri) and B ( non- agri) seasonal workers are paid according to the state set Adverse Effect Wage Rate which is higher than Federal Minimum Wage. These wages are the highest ( $13.80) in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas and lowest ( avg $10.80/hr) in SE states.

As or perhaps more important than the wage is the bang for the buck. Foreign seasonal workers tend to be substantially more productive than US employees as it relates to seasonal work.

Small businesses are the primary recruiters and employers of undocumented labor. Wages are variable.

Occasionally, on highly visible commercial projects like the new build of an Apple facility in Texas, the parties and state sit down to hammer out wages and stuff for undocumented workers, including OT and Workers Comp.

One is not likely to hear Trump or Hillary talk about the large mass of low/ no skill " working class" men who are immune to hard work, who blame everyone else but themselves.

No.
Let's all contemplate what it feels like for a strong black woman to wake up every morning in a house slave's built.

Every morning!

You think we're global now, just wait, and see what happens if Hillary gets in...they want a one world organization....that is why they're allowing all these illegals in...plus they passed the bill that allows people from other countries here to work legally....so the corporations lay us Americans off, and hire them...it's a win win deal for them...and this is just one example of many reasons why they Want Hillary in. She is bought and paid for by the corporations of the WORLD, all the rich....including Arabs, Muslims, etc....that is why Bush did NOTHING after 911 to close off the borders.

you would think after an attack like that, they would have immediately closed off the borders right? Well, no, not when most foreign nations own our real estate, like banks, our ports, etc....

american's are so uneducated on this...they vote to vote, and haven't got a reason why, except that Hillary is a woman...OH YEAH
Trump has flip- flopped many times as it relates to H1 B visas for skilled workers and by his own admission, his views are changing towards favoring more visas.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...on-h-1b-visas/

As for seasonal worker visas, Trump has been consistent that he intends to make it easier for Mexicans to work in the US legally, which means increasing H2A and B visas.

Regardless of what either candidate says, Congress has to play ball. Nothing indicates a majority in Congress intends to curb foreign worker visas.

White people honor their ancestors all the time. They're still having Civil War reenactments and flying dumb flags in honor of their ancestors that supposedly died for the cause of fighting northern tyranny.

So if that's relevant, slavery is relevant, and we're not about to let the memory of it die so that folks like you can pretend that it never happened.

So, whatever...
More americans have ancestors who were affected by the Irish potato famine or the failed 1848 revolutions than were affected by slavery.

You don't see people starting threads in the politics forum for these issues. Go to a genealogy site or the history forum.

First, Democrats were the slave owners which is why Blacks were Republican until their vote and allegiance was bought by Democrats with welfare in the 60s.
President Johnson left recordings by him behind of how he created welfare so the N-words would vote Democrat for the next 200 years.

Slavery exists today throughout Africa and through the middle East in greater numbers today than in Civil War times. No black activists like fighting against that because? Do you hear about this issue at all?

Slaves that were bought and sold were almost completely the losers of tribal warfare. If there was no slavery all of those people would have died instead and none of their black relatives in America would have ever existed. So though horrible, slavery unlike abortion allowed generations of black family to go forward that never would have existed.

There are lots of great black people who assimilated and made great lives living the American dream, other Americans of all races did not developed their futures and they mostly whine.

O'Riely is an ass, but slavery discussed never has a great outcome, except of course for the wonderful generations of black Americans we have.
