CNN showed 134,000,000 people not allowed into USA! What a sick propaganda channel.
Where was CNN to tell that Jewish people are not allowed into many Muslim countries!
Where is CNN to mention (if they want to bring propaganda news) that my ancestors were denied access to USA due to muzzles when they arrived at Ellis Island. We never held the US responsible nor the President at the time for them being sent back on the boat and later dying in Auswitz!
America making "islam the enemy" will bring the country down a dark path. You have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than getting killed by terrorism. Why are people so afraid? Too much right wing propghanda?
My vote would be to continue the Syrian refugee program and not impose the temporary ban on the other countries for these reasons:
1. Concern over the adequacy of vetting? Current refugees ARE vetted. Not satisfied that standards are high enough? Then adjust the parameters and certainly deny visas to any who did not meet them. No argument that security triumphs humanitarian concerns.
2. Concern over program cost? Then set numbers of available visas at whatever Congress or the Administration is willing to fund. We apply cost-benefit analysis to other budgetary decisions. Why not this one?
Those are the negative reasons to continue. Some of the positive.
I'll skip the feel-good items and move right to the functional.
3. Religious radicals in the Muslim world have pretty much declared war on the West. Osama bin Ladin was smart enough to grasp that that war may well be won or lost within the Muslim middle class - the very element that we are excluding with the ban. Why hand ISIS a propaganda tool?
4. As long as the United States does "business" - either governmental, military, humanitarian, tourist-oriented, economic etc. - in the portion of the world that is Muslim, it is foolish to declare those peoples to be persona non grata. Who knows when we may need them. And for what. Trump can attempt to characterize this action is something other than a Muslim ban but who believes him, particularly when he was forced to walk back his pre-election language to make it country-specific. And regardless of what he may say, or Americans may believe, what counts is how it's processed abroad.
At a very minimum, the wise policy would be to keep the numbers down on the refugee program (if that must be) and be quiet. As for the *temporary* ban on the impacted countries, consular officials are already well trained. If there's concern about a class or specific individuals, then do NOT issue those particular visas. The ban will end, the memory will remain. Wonder why he did not follow that path?

True that CNN did not clearly label that figure although they did not quite SAY that. Still, we HAVE just stuck out our tongue at that number of people (not to mention their co-religionists in countries with a long record of friendship with the US). For better or for worse.

Hmm. Nope. Economic migrants are not allowed to stay in Germany.
They're not "supposed" to stay in Germany, but they do. There are a ton of them in France, trying to make their way to the UK.

How do you know that? If anything, foreigners have a much better work ethic than most Americans. I don't think I've ever seen a homeless Mexican, Iranian, or Italian.
