Even going back earlier, to 1993, the Hawaiian Gardens gang members were molotoving innocent black citizens in their neighborhoods.

And there you have it. While some black activists may speak out about things like these, others will choose to look the other way whenever people of color kill each other over skin color, or if there's racial tensions between 'minorities.' Who knows what the reasoning is behind this lunacy.
.
There is a long history of this in Texas. Except historically they were not minorities, Mexicans were part of the WHITE community.

My family remembers the days when they couldnt eat at a Mexican restaurant because Mexican restaurants in Houston and Dallas were for "whites only".

There was a Mexican political leader by the name of Felix Tijerina who had a famous chain of Mexican restaurants in the 50s - he refused to serve black people and posted signs warning any negros that would dare enter his restaurants.

Spanish-Americans used to be Klan-robe white. When they arbitrarily became minorities in the 70s-80s after the ridiculous "hispanic" concept was introduced, it was ironic.

No it isnt. Historically, it was not difficult to classify "hispanics". They were all white. They all identified as white.

Race relations and identity politics have dramatically changed indeed, especially in respect to how we perceive people of Spanish or Spanish-speaking origin today.

There was no "hispanic/latino" minority group in the past. The ridiculous concept that Spanish = minority/POC was politically fabricated in the 70s by liberal SJWs. Before then, Spanish meant Spanish and Latin meant Latin. Those were European labels. They were just a different kind of white people.

Bureacrats INVENTED a new minority group from whole cloth. They made Spanish descendants into a fake minority group.

OMG, WHY is the majority of this thread debating endlessly about DNA origins of Hispanics in Latin America and what they are considered, etc. etc. What does that have to do with anything in regards to the original topic???

Come on people, this is a thread discussing race relations as it applies to AMERICA, and especially among Hispanics and other racial groups as Hispanics become the majority minority.

Please keep it on topic.

White America? Um, most Americans want illegal aliens deported brown or not. As for bombing any countries with terrorists in them their skin color is irrelevant also. Put that race card back in your wallet.

That's 100% on topic.

Anybody who claims "hispanics" are becoming the largest minority group, should first explain why they are minorities at all. The notion of a "hispanic" minority group is new.

Why are Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio minorities?

A large portion of Hispanics are American-Indian, or predominantly American-Indian. My aunt is Guatemalan, which is the only Latin-American country where more people self-identify as being American-Indian, and not white or Mestizo.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic...atinobarometro

A large portion of current illegal-immigrants are Guatemalan. And if they self-identify as American-Indian, why would it make any sense for us to then classify them as White?

And likewise, the people of Ecuador are actually more American-Indian than they are European. Why would we then classify them as European?

I said earlier that I don't know how to classify these people. Of course, in Latin-America, they actually do have a classification for these people, it is "Mestizo". And that is what most of them self-identify as.

The problem in America, is that we don't use that category. So they just get called white. Which in many cases, just makes absolutely no sense.

It is not new for Americans to see American-Indians as not white, both the ones native to this country, and the ones in Latin-America. And most Hispanics are only about half European.

With that said, both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are basically 100% European.

They could be considered a cultural minority, but they certainly aren't a racial minority.

Though I'm not even convinced that Ted Cruz would really even qualify as a cultural minority. Marco, maybe.

And yet you all accept blindly, and are emotionally invested in the narrative, that the Ashkenazi Jews are genetically distinct from white Europeans. That they are the ancient Hebrews.

Yet, there are white Jews, brown Jews (semetic Arabs), and black Jews (Ethiopians). Just like their are Latino Catholics that are white, brown, and black as evidenced in Colombia, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Indeed, sometimes in a single extended family.

But it is important for people to point out there are white Latinos but considered impolite to point out the obvious that the Jewish-American comedian Jerry Seindfield is as phenotypically white as white Colombians, Brazilians, and Puerto Ricans.

Maybe because few want to ask the obvious question. White Jews are living in the USA, often in high income positions, just as white Jews are living in Colombia, Brazil, and Puerto Rico even though the story goes the nation-state of Israel had to be formed so as Jews would not die.

But somehow a white Mexican is just like the white Englishman and German.

I do agree there are plenty of white Latinos. Some Latino countries like Chile and Uraguay (spelling?) are visibly predominantly white even by US cultural standards of what white looks like.

No it's not.

Clearly, whenever this topic is raised about Hispanics, it's NOT referring to those who look Caucasian in appearance. It refers to Latino's that look 'darker' and more ethnic in that manner.

People who bring in the DNA debate are only doing so in order to minimize and divert from the topic at hand.

So again, can people please get on topic and save this DNA debate for another thread? What does any of that have to do with race relations between Latinos/Hispanics and other races in their communities? There are some very challenging issues in regards to this, plenty of racial tensions as the rising Latino communities compete with blacks and others for political power, resources, etc.
