Actually, Hispanic is not a race. The real problem is illegal aleins of which the great majority are Hispanic/Latino and this is harming citizens of all races and uniting them in an effort to make American citizens of all races the priority of our government.
The Democrats attempted to use "race" in the election to deflect from the real issues, divide and conquer, so this is really no longer relevant to the revival of our country.
Instead of focusing on sending black people back to Africa, white people now focus on building a wall to keep other white people (aka Hispanics) out.
Mexican peasants aren't necessarily European. The descendants of Europeans tend to cluster in the upper class, and the indigenous populations tends to be the poor. So we aren't really "keeping white people out". That's what the average American is too indifferent and lazy to know.
So again, can people please get on topic and save this DNA debate for another thread? What does any of that have to do with race relations between Latinos/Hispanics and other races in their communities? There are some very challenging issues in regards to this, plenty of racial tensions as the rising Latino communities compete with blacks and others for political power, resources, etc.
It has everything to do with it.
If you want to understand the history of race relations between blacks and "hispanics", you have first understand the history and origin of both groups, in particular the story of how Spanish-speakers (formally considered to be white) became minorities in the first place.
You're trying to frame this as conflict between two minority groups, black against brown, but historically they were not minorities. There was no "hispanic/latino" group. They just made that up.
My family, from Texas, remember Mexicans as white racists and still regard them as white today - because that is what Mexicans were when they were growing up.

That's an interesting viewpoint; Tejanos have a completely different history from all other Latino groups. Do you know if anglos considered Tejanos white? I have read some research that says Tejanos were discriminated against to the point of even being lynched. This is an honest question as I haven't found clear research on these things, so it is interesting to ask someone with firsthand knowledge.
But let me just say in my experience Mexican Americans are notorious for not only discriminating against black people but also other Latinos especially Central Americans.
White America? Um, most Americans want illegal aliens deported brown or not. As for bombing any countries with terrorists in them their skin color is irrelevant also. Put that race card back in your wallet.
Spin it however you like, but the obsession is there for a reason. At least Peter King is honest about his white supremacist intentions all the way in that immigration hotspot of Iowa.
DNA studies show Puerto Rico is roughly 70% white ancestry and evenly split 15-15 african and native. I have no idea where you got the 81% number.
No one is talking about what people want to identify as. We are talking about DNA studies, which has nothing to do with what people desire to identify as. In Brazil for example, its often the less well off groups who donate blood to hospitals on a regular basis to help hospitals with supply of blood and even in those groups, European DNA dominates. If anything, recent DNA studies show that hispanics underestimate the European roots, not overestimate it.
You seem to have this idea that you can see on the persons face what their DNA is. Thats not how ancestry works.
The majority are not truly white people. Puerto Ricans are usually 20-30% African on average.
I really couldn't care less, white people non-Hispanic types are no longer a majority here, has been for a year or two now.
I'm sick and tired of things being divided along racial lines, it's getting old....
