The Real Story of Why Bipartisan Health Care Reform Is Impossible Now

I posted in this thread about the Murray/Alexander initiative (never a Bill in writing that anyone would get behind) - they had meetings beginning in July and got nowhere. Democrats didn't like it and neither did Republicans ..... it was just a stall effort and it ended with that famous "bi-partisan" agreement to end it.

They wished to sabotage and derail affordable healthcare for millions more Americans simply because the other party actually did something, and then when they have the numbers to do just that and ram their proposal down all our throats they had………….nothing………….after…………seven…………years.

Now they throw this hastily designed piece of crap up for a vote, and none of the GOP base has any problems with it, even though every reputable medical committee, hospital and watchdog group stands in justifiable opposition to it.

These people will do whatever their party tells them to do without a moment of thought.
So ..... tell us how to "fix it", nobody else is willing to step up and tell us how to "fix" the ACA mess that the Democrats and Obama forced on the American public.

IF it's so easy to "fix", why didn't the Democrats EVER bring up a bill to do this famous/easy "fix"????
They crammed it through in 2010 - how come 7 years later they are still whining about "fix" with zero efforts during those 7 years to do it???

Lots of links with Democrats fighting anything to do with Obamacare, but no "fixes".
The proposed "fixes" are out there. I guess Fox News just doesn't bother to report that eh? Probably because they like their viewers ignorant.

1) Create an annual $15 billion reinsurance fund. ObamaCare had a reinsurance program for three years from 2014 to 2016 to provide payments to insurers that enroll higher-cost, sicker individuals.

2) Continue ObamaCare's insurer payments, which reimburse them for giving discounts to low-income patients. Insurers have blamed the uncertainty over whether these payments will continue as a reason for their proposed double digit rate increases in 2018.

3)Have "robust marketing strategies" to ensure that more people enroll during open enrollment periods.

4)Allow a buy-in option for Medicare for people nearing retirement age.

5)Expand tax credits by age, geography and income to help people buy insurance. Currently, about 84 percent of ObamaCare participants get a subsidy.

6)Expand the availability of catastrophic health plans that include essential health benefits and coverage for primary care for younger enrollees. These plans, meant to protect people from worst-scenarios, tend to have low monthly premiums and high deductibles.

Ten House Democrats propose plan to fix ObamaCare | TheHill

That fact that YOU haven't read about the proposed "fixes" doesn't mean they are not THERE. It just means that YOU haven't been paying attention.

There are several proposed "fixes" to Obamacare. Some folks may like them, some folks may hate them - but to claim that there are no proposed "fixes" is just plain ignorant.

I said back in October that fixing it would be the more stable option at this point. But that requires real work and study on their part. Pretty confident that they don't want to do that.

Congress is not the experts on health care. The experts are in the private sector, but they have been hamstrung.

We know the Dems don't want to fix it because they want to funnel everyone to single payer. So no one does the work, and 95% of the public will lose down the road.

Why can't they just improve what they have? Just change the name to TrumpCare and leave it alone.

McCain put the interests of the nation ahead of passing the fraud know as Trumpcare. His courageousness has saved tens of thousands of lives. A true pro-lifer.

Instead of these quick and untenable pieces of legislation that do more harm than good, why don't the Republicans actually spend some time working on a real healthcare bill? Just think if they had spent these last 10 months doing that, instead of trying to continually ram through these half-ass pieces of crap. They might have actually come up with something decent to present. But that's too much to hope for from these clowns.

Had they done that, the LWNJs would have treated it exactly like they have everything else. With obstruction and demagoguery. You'd be leading the charge, so spare us.

You are welcome to find a single LINK that I've ever posted from Fox News that I've ever posted - Good Luck!

As for the article from The Hill that you posted - I read The Hill regularly and posted this same LINK months ago ...... did you notice the part about Nancy Pelosi doesn't endorse this "plan"? Did you stop and wonder WHY Nancy Pelosi didn't endorse this plan?

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement the proposal has "some promising ideas" but did not appear to fully endorse it.

I feel confident that Pelosi/Schumer remember the Massive Public Backlash to the last "Bailout" they proposed.
It wasn't pretty. This 10 point plan is right on point for what they really want ..... a Massive Bailout to Big Health Care and BIG Insurance companies.

That will go over like a Lead Balloon to the American Public. The American Public pays huge premiums with huge Deductibles that they never meet and for that honor ..... Big Health Care & BIG Insurance get multi Billion dollars in Bailout every single year ....... just to keep Obamacare from Imploding.

That is exactly why the Democrats have proposed no Bill at all to "fix" ObamaCare - the only "fix" they are willing to examine is a Massive Huge Annual Bailout to Wealthy Hospitals and Wealthy Insurance companies.
