Politicians are all politicians. If you are a liberal democrat socialist in a largely rural state where everyone hunts and carries then you're going to have pro gun laws or you won't get elected.

Not only mental health issues, we have people with anger issues. We have people who are just evil and will kill no matter what. Taking guns away won't stop an evil person from killing another person.

But yes, per your other reply we might as well ban all cars and trucks if we are going to ban guns since cars and trucks are the terrorist weapon of choice now. In this case he had a criminal conviction and it involved spousal abuse and had be been reported by the Air Force he would have not been able to legally buy a gun. I agree on the mental health issue but in this case it came down to a criminal issue and the Air Force not doing their job under the Law.

Social media can play a role, but not in the way some people think. There have always been this many psychos in the world, this many extremists. Social media just gives them more attention. It's exposing what has always been there. The news networks cover things alot faster than years ago.
The idea that banning guns would stop extremists is the biggest lie ever. Timothy McVeigh. He used fertilizer. That terrorist in Nice, France. He used a truck to kill people. Drove it into people. People who want to commit mass murder are going to look for ways to do it no matter what.
If you don't own a gun, you shouldn't be passing laws on them.
